Noise of Waters

Lewis River 5
24 x 18
pastel on Wallis Museum

All Day I Hear the Noise of Waters by James Joyce
All day I hear the noise of waters
Making moan,
Sad as the sea-bird is when, going
Forth alone,
He hears the winds cry to the water's
Monotone.

The grey winds, the cold winds are blowing
Where I go.
I hear the noise of many waters
Far below.
All day, all night, I hear them flowing
To and fro.

Katherine the pastels you've shared with us lately are absolutely beautiful. I feel the movement and energy in each one. Wonderful!!!

These big water pastels are really gorgeous. Very abstract, yet there is no doubt it is water.

This whole series of water paintings is so dynamic. As big and as elemental as the river itself. Swim or drown. You obviously swam in the deep end.
