Summertime

Imagine, hanging on the anchor at Echo Bay near Sucia Island ... it's almost sunset and the sky is turning shades of pink and orange. From a sailboat somewhere nearby you hear the sound of a trumpet playing "Summertime" from Gerschwin's "Porgy and Bess." Jazz styling. And the sound fills the air and slides across the water until it bounces off the land in a sweet echo.

It doesn't get better than that!

beautiful paintings from your adventure--and I love "Summertime"--that had to be fantastic to hear it on the water like that! Looking forward to seeing your sketchbook---tomorrow, right?

I'll be there, tan and smiling and sketchbook under my arm.

I like the painting on the easel - wow! The water, the reflections, gorgeous.

Am I losing it, but didn't you give us a link for "Summertime" last year? Was it Ella? Nonetheless, I love them all, even Janis Joplin's version.

You are right, Bullwinkle. "Summertime" is one of my all-time favorite tunes.

Thanks, Gretha. You can see that painting at O'Connor's this month! Framed and on the wall for August.

I got to see some of your paintings at Aurora Gallery today. The crimson clover is beautiful!
