Design is on my mind as I work my way through this sketchbook. Each page becomes an opportunity to try out an idea for putting together images and words in a new way.
Trees trimmed up like broccoli -- it makes me laugh!

I, too, chuckled. I was an art teacher for 28 years. In my many years in elementary and middle school I would have to talk about lollipop tress! Now I wish I'd mentioned those broccoli trees!
We drove to Carpenteria fall of 2010. We went to a flag store to buy a Mexican flag. First time there, and I loved the town. :-) I wanted to stop, have a coffee, etc. We did go to a used book store, though!
I've wondered how they make the shubs look so perfect. Mine would be lopsided!
The title made me think of The Enchanted Broccoli Forest (cookbook and recipe)- Broccoli stalks sticking up like trees, but for dinner!
Pam: I'm guessing that lollipops have a more positive connotation with kids than broccoli! I'm sure you were a great art teacher!
Hi Angie! Carpinteria is a great little town! My family used to tent camp at the State Park on the beach.I have happy memories of body surfing there.
Hi Cortni! Debra, Loretta, and I went to a fancy dinner years ago and the mashed potatoes were decorated with sprigs of basil and rosemary in such a way that it looked like a tree on an island. Loretta laughed so hard, she cried. She still laughs when she tells the story!
