Catch the glimmer

Wader
18 x 12
Dakota Board

The Eight+ have a new show hanging at O'Connor's Restaurant in Multnomah Village. Come in for the art, stay for the food. Or come for the food and stay for the art.

You'll see new by Celeste Bergin, Mary Luzinski, Marge Rood, Eileen Nelson, Carrie Holst, Kitty Wallis, Carolyn Rondthaler, Michael Fisher, Kimberly Kent, and me.

I used some iridescent paints in the underpainting for "Wader." You can get up close and see the shimmer along the bird's belly and head and in the water. It's a subtle look and not one I would want to overdo, lest my painting start to resemble a glitter-laden Valentine. Let me know what you think when you see it!

New at O'Connor's

Come to O'Connor's to see "Considering Kelp" hanging with the latest "Artists' Choice" by Eight+. The new artwork on the walls just shines with light and color. I hope you'll get over to see it!

Low Tide at O'Connor's

"Low Tide"
pastel, 18 x 24

"Summertime"
pastel, 20 x 10

It was a lively morning today at O'Connor's Restaurant on Capitol Highway. My art group, Eight+, hung a new show. There's a happy energy when we hang new paintings. Customers are already talking about some of the pieces!

I rushed to the framer yesterday to have "Low Tide" framed for this show. Framing really makes a painting take on significance! "Summertime" hangs in the hallway, and the light from the window is just perfect on it.

All of the new work looks great! You can see Celeste Bergin's new piece on her blog, but I hope that you will stop in at O'Connor's and see all of the work for yourself, in person.

Sneak peek at O'Connor's painting

For the last two years, I have been driving to Multnomah Village to O'Connor's Restaurant to have breakfast and art conversation with a group of fine artists, the Portland Plein Air and Studio Painters.

A small group within the PPASP, "Eight+", hung a show at O'Connor's earlier this year. The owner heard good feedback from his customers and staff about how our paintings added positively to his space, so he invited us to continue to show our artwork.

In October, we took down our show and Kaye Synoground, long time Multnomah Village artist, hung her cheerful watercolor paintings at O'Connor's. Now, beginning in January, Eight+ will hang paintings that relate to O'Connor's.

Hope you'll come and see the current show hanging at O'Connor's and my big bouquet painting on the wall. Hey, if you come on Tuesday or Thursday morning, you can even join us for breakfast and art talk. You won't be disappointed!
