Willem de Kooning

I am reading "de Kooning: An American Master" by Mark Stevens and Annalyn Swan, the 600 page biography on the great modern artist. Even though I have only read about a third of the book, I am enthralled by the man. And inspired to "work as though every stroke might be your last." Words to paint by.

I finished it this year, and I won't give away the ending...

I was much inspired, too. I did find that I had to go to the internet to see his work better. The book isn't illuminated enough with paintings - see them online.

I did see Woman 1 at the MOMA, so I did have that to go by, also. I gald you are getting to read this awesome book.

Thanks for stopping by, Casey!

I love the story of de Kooning sitting on a park bench, a little worried about the larger man sitting on the same bench. Finally, the man spoke and it turned out to be Robert Motherwell! What a great time to be an artist!
