Raw Umber and White, a monochrome study
I had a great time learning more about oil painting today in my session with Thomas Kitts. I used discrete value puddles for this painting and did not blend across the values. Not all of the marks you see are mine, but many of them are and I am pleased with what I did.In the weeks ahead, I will do more monochromatic value studies like this. It's like magic when the values work and define the shapes and turn the forms. Magic!
