Yupo trial

One fun thing about traveling is stopping in at unfamiliar art supply stores. Of course, Jerry's Artarama is familiar to me as a great internet resource, but in Austin, TX, I got to walk into the real thing

I didn't NEED anything, but I still bought some Yupo to try. Have you used it? Here's my first go at watercolor and ink on Yupo. I think I like it!

Nice. Did you stop along the way or is this a larger moving down the road piece?

Fun! I got to go to the Blick store in Oakland, and bought a pad of Sennie paper.

What are you doing in Austin? Did you get tired of all the cold weather here?
We're thinking of moving there in about 5 years or so.
I like the abstract painting you did with your new materials. Makes me think of Spring!

Hi Roxanne!

I've been admiring all of the live oak trees and mourning the many trees that died during the terrible drought they've had here this last year. Trees on my mind while I played with watercolor and the new Yupo. Thanks for checking in!

Casey: it's always an adventure to wander into a new art supplies place, isn't it? I also saw a fully electric "robo-easel" at Jerry's. Foot pedals operated the height and tilt of the large wooden easel. Not my thing, but fun to see.

Hi Joni!

I really enjoyed Austin. We're following the sun and visiting friends and family this winter. Austin is too far away from my need to be near the ocean rule, but definitely an upbeat and contemporary place. You're going to settle there? Really? Why Austin?

I have Yuppo paper and have not tried it yet. I have been playing with watercolor a lot lately and so I better try it out. Fun following your travels.
