Gesture Sailboat

Sometimes a quick sketch captures the feeling and the subject at the same time. I like this sketch, done in just seconds. When a sailboat is motoring toward you, it's good to be quick!

That is a great sketch. There's something to be said for a loose style. Difficult though, since we often want to be very detailed.

Thanks, John. I think that sometimes a gesture can capture the material as well as the immaterial, don't you think?

I met a marine artist on the trip who did gorgeous pen and ink drawings of boats (fishing, sail, tall ships) with so much detail it was remarkable. But, he had to work from photos since he was so slow.
