Play!

Today began with a full rush of hurry. Maybe you know the feeling of charging through chores to get to the fun of the day: painting.

Once I was in the studio, I knew just what I wanted to do. I wanted to play! Out came my sketchbook with the light-on-water sketches. Out came the watercolor (what better way to play when the subject is water than watercolor?). Big brushes. Happy music.

Pike palette, color not too mixed

Yes! What a great way to play. I thought from the thumbnail on my dashboad that the palette was the painting. Wouldn't have been bad at all! What is a Pike palette?

and to go on through the woods with Pooh is just a fine idea.

Great post--looks like a productive idea session for sure

I agree with Kaylyn I thouht that was a great little waterolour abstract. You do give the feeling of fun and paint. Thanks again for your words yesterday I quoted you in todays blog.

Hey, Kaylyn! You picked up the Pooh-ism! Great!

There are lots of watercolor palettes to choose from. The Pike palette (linked on the blog to their website) is nice because the paint wells are big for my big brush and the working surface is large, too. I put it at a slight angle and the muddied colors run down. Works for me.

Hi Celeste -- it was productive. Felt like a new idea burst out while the last one was being explored. That doesn't happen too often for me, but when it does it's wonderful!

Ralph -- in a way, I liked the look of the palette better than the look of the paintings so I posted that at the top of the blog. Loose and fun.

You quoted me for scolding you! Thanks! :o) Hope you're soon up to feeling like painting again. K.
